Floating Langmuir layers of an azobenzene-functionalized copolymer were investigated with second-harmonic generation in reflection. The non-linear susceptibility tensor chi(2) of the monolayer and the orientation of the polymer side groups were determined. The effect of surface pressure on the second-harmonic intensity was investigated.
