Conductivity and Electroluminescence in an Organometallic Langmuir-Blodgett-Film Anthracene Structure
Structures consisting of Al/anthracene/Au and Al/(Py)-Ni(dmit)2 Langmuir-Blodgett film/anthracene/Au have been constructed and their electrical and opto-electrical properties compared. The current vs. voltage characteristics of the simple anthracene structure were found to be symmetric for both polarities of applied bias. However, significant rectification (greater than 10(3)) was observed in the device containing the (Py)-Ni(dmit)2. Short-lived electroluminescence was also observed for this device with a forward bias of 50 V.
