The strong bias dependence and the significant azimuthal anisotropy of the second-harmonic generation (SHG) intensity from Si-SiO2 multiple quantum wells (MQW) are observed. The role of the field-induced cubic non-linear optical polarization in enhancement of the SHG signal from the Si-SiO2 MQW is demonstrated.
