Analysis of ellipsometric and photoemission spectra of diluted magnetic semiconductors by hybridization interaction mechanism
In a study of the E-1 and E-1 + Delta(1) band gap for films of Zn1-x (Mn, Fe, Co)(x)Se (0 less than or equal to x < 0.14) using spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE), we demonstrated that a sp-d hybridization interaction gave a better description of the concentration dependence of the E-1 and E-1 + Delta(1) band gaps than did an sp-d exchange interaction. We applied the sp-d hybridization interaction mechanism developed from this SE study to analyze photoemission spectra. The result shows that our model predicts the reversed ordering of the t(2) and e states when they are located inside the valence bands, contrary to the conventional understanding.
