GRAVIMETRIC-DETERMINATION OF SILVER(I) USING 4-BENZYLIDENEAMINO-3-MERCAPTO-6-METHYL-1,2,4-TRIAZIN-(4H)-5-ONE
A simple and accurate gravimetric method for the determination of silver is presented. 4-Benzylideneamino-3-mercapto-6-methyl-1,2,4-triazin(4H)-5-one precipitates silver quantitatively from ammoniacal tartrate medium. The complex is weighed as Ag(C11H9N4OS) after drying at 120-130 degrees C. Separation of silver from a large number of cations and anions is described. Application of the method for quantitative analysis of alloys and complexes of silver is reported. The average relative error for the range 20-98 mg of silver is <1% and the relative standard deviation at the 32.52 mg level is 0.10%.
