Hydroconversion of cyclohexene using platinum-containing catalysts promoted with other noble metals and chlorine or fluorine
The hydroconversion of cyclohexene over catalysts containing 0.35 wt.% of each of the following metals: Pt, Ir. Rh, Re, U, PtIr, PtRe and PtU on gamma -Al2O3 was carried out in a pulsed micro reactor system at the temperature range 50-250 degreesC. The effect of fluorination or chlorination with 3.0 wt.% of Cl or F was examined. Bimetallic combination on alumina gave more active catalysts for the hydrogenation of cyclohexene than the monometallic catalysts. The activities of all monometallic catalysts was significantly enhanced by halogenation. However, Cl was a more effective promoter than F Nevertheless, the bimetallic catalysts were significantly enhanced with F but significantly inhibited with Cl.
