Mathematical modelling for the shell and tube reactor: A tool for computer aided design of industrial reactors
In this work a detailed deterministic model is derived based on the mass, energy and momentum balance equations. It takes into account geometric features which reflect in the available area for the coolant flow. With such a reliable physical representation of the system, it is possible to carry out computer aided design of the reactor considering mechanical details to explore alternative configurations, as well as to define operating conditions to achieve high operational performance.
