A study of the design of solar evaporation pans
In the present work an experimental and theoretical study is attempted, on the use of solar evaporation pans in tanneries for evaporation of water from the soak liquor. A design methodology is identified and checked with the experimental results of the present study. The model is found to match the experimental data satisfactorily. Increase in the air temperature, wind velocity and salt bath temperature are found to increase the evaporation rate whereas increase in concentration of the salt bath solution and air humidity are found to decrease evaporation rate. Salt bath temperature is sound to be major influencing parameter to increase the evaporation rate.
