{TpRe(bpy)}: A novel pentaaminerhenium system that stabilizes both high and low oxidation states (Tp = hydridotris(pyrazolyl)borate; bpy 2,2 '-bipyridyl)
The complexes [TpRe(bpy)(CI)]OTf and TpRe(bpy)-(eta (2)-cyclopentene) can be prepared from TpRe(Cl-2)(O= PMe3). The stability of rhenium in both low and high oxidation states is attributed to the flexible electronic nature of the polypyridyl and pyrazolyl ligands.
