Reaction kinetics and the mechanism for cumene hydroperoxide degradation by the action of rodanine derivatives
The degradation of cumene hydroperoxide in the presence of rhodanine, its analogues, or 5-benylidenerhodanides was studied. It was found that these compounds catalyze the degradation of hydroperoxides. The products of rhodanine reaction with cumene hydroperoxide are capable of multiple termination of oxidation chains via the reaction with ethylbenzene peroxy radicals. A plausible mechanism was proposed for the reaction of rhodanines with cumene hydroperoxide.
