Curing of Plasmids of Corynebacterium-Renale - Lactose Metabolism and Cephaloridine Resistance Are Not Plasmid-Encoded
Corynebacterium renale exhibits cephaloridine resistance and lactose metabolism, a phenotype uncommon in corynebacteria. This strain possesses several small plasmids. However when these were eliminated, the cured strain still expressed the parent phenotype. Thus cephaloridine resistance and lactose metabolism are not plasmid-associated in C. renale.
