Electroviscous phenomena in colloidal dispersions
Electroviscous phenomena arise from a coupling of hydrodynamics and electrokinetics. This coupling gives rise to a number of interesting phenomena, such as an ion-size dependence of (i) diffusion coefficients of colloidal particles, and (ii) coagulation and deposition rates, interesting trajectories of tracer particles around large charged particles, an increase in viscosity and electrokinetic lift. The origins of these phenomena are being discussed.
