Particle size distribution determination from spectral extinction using evolutionary programming
Novel inversion techniques to determine the particle size distribution and sample concentrations from spectral extinction measurements using evolutionary programming (EP) have been developed for the two cases of known and unknown relative refractive indices. The proposed methods are simple and have attractive advantages of high stability, insensitivity to measurement noise and distribution shape, low requirement for a priori knowledge and few constraints. Several simulations have been conducted to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.
