Thermal interaction between polymer-based composite friction materials and counterfaces
Attempts have been made to improve the performance of polymeric composite friction materials for eliminating undesirable mechanical and thermal effects on the opposing surfaces. Elastic compression modulus and thermal conductivity of the moulded friction materials were found to be the most effective parameters upon the thermal interaction between the disc and brake pad. Effects of elastic modulus on temperature accumulation of the interface have also been studied.
