Generalization of polymer/organic solvent interaction processes by means of linear polyparameter equations. I. Swelling of polyethylene
A solvent's molar volume is the factor that determines its ability to penetrate into a polymer structure. However, the available data for polyethylene swelling in organic solvents may be quantitatively linked with their physicochemical properties only by use of polyparameter equations, which take into account not only the molar volume of solvents but also their ability for specific and nonspecific solvation.
