Thermal analysis of thin film desalination systems
Thin film heat exchangers which nowadays constitute desalination systems are of great interest due to the fact that they feature high intensification of heat transfer, elimination of possibility of scale formation on the surface, essential decrease of equipment corrosion and low temperature head between surface and heated seawater. However, for plants with these facilities a comparative thermodynamic analysis which would prove the advantages of desalination systems on the basis of thin film heat exchangers is absent. Thermal analysis of several schemes when energy is obtained by a thermal station containing the vertical and horizontal thin film facilities and combined schemes with these facilities was carried out. Theoretical distribution of heat streams in the stages of the plant was estimated. Exergy efficiency variations for the schemes were analysed and established.
