CONTROL OF AXIAL PUMPS IN TURBINE OPERATION
Axial pumps are additionally used for energy generation on streams and rivers, as well as on the in- and outflow of sewage and drainage works with small heads. For time variations of the throughput volume flows and heads it is necessary to adjust the turbine for achieving an optimal yield. Axial pumps in turbine operation react very sensitively to changes of the plant parameters. They are, however, also very suitable for the governing by speed control, by runner or guide vane adjustment or by coupling of the various adjustment methods, respectively. The possibilities and properties of the various adjustment methods for axial pumps in turbine operation are presented and the optimal control methods are indicated.
