Mass-Transfer from Highly Soluble Cylinders in Cross-Flow - Some Experimental Results
Mass transfer coefficients from highly soluble cylinders in cross flow orientation have been determined experimentally. The separate contributions arising from the different parts of the cylinder, namely, the front, plane sides and the rear have been delineated by masking various parts of the test specimen. Simple empirical expressions are devised for the components as well as for the total mass transfer coefficient. The present results compare favourably with the literature data in the following ranges of conditions : 90 less than or equal to Re-p less than or equal to 850; 600 less than or equal to Sc less than or equal to 1100 and 70 less than or equal to Sh < 210.
