Synthesis of Hg0.75Re0.25Ba2Ca2Cu3O8+delta bi-axially textured thin film by the aerosol process
Thin films (similar to 350 nm) of Hg0.75Re0.25Ba2Ca2Cu3O8+delta superconductor phase have been formed on MgO single crystals by aerosol deposition at high temperatures from an aqueous nitrate solution followed by a mercuration process at low pressure (< 30 bars). These films present a c-axis orientation (Delta omega = 0.7 degrees) and an in-plane texture as shown by X-ray pole figures. The intragrain critical current density determined from d.c. magnetisation reaches 1.4 10(7) A cm(-2) at 4.2 K and 1.6 10(6) A cm(-2) at 77 K in self-field. This material is then very promising for electronic applications. The process that we develop is fast, cheap and very attractive for scaling up in the point of view of coated conductors.
