The first simple, donor-free salt of the Sb(OTeF5)(6)(-) anion: Synthesis, structure, characterization, and thermochemistry of Cs[Sb(OTeF5)(6)]
Large and nonbasic anions are needed to stabilize novel and highly electrophilic/oxidizing cations. The Sb(OTeF5)(6)(-)-anion is suitable for this purpose and can now be introduced as a counterion by metathesis of the here reported Cs salt with MF6- salts (M = As, Sb) since CsMF6 is insoluble in many solvents.
