Electron transfer. 149. Reactions of hypervalent chromium with s(2) metal-ion reducing centers
The reductions of HCrO4- with excess Ge(II), In(I), and Sn(II) give predominantly Cr(II), trapped by its rapid reaction with added (NH3)(5)CoF2+. The conversions, which involve changes of two units, pass through Cr(IV), bypassing Cr(III), and are thought to proceed by oxygen atom transfer.
