Porous media characterization using mercury porosimetry simulation. 2. An iterative method for the determination of the real pore size distribution and the mean coordination number
A methodology for the determination of the actual pore size distribution and the mean coordination number of a porous sample using experimental mercury porosimetry data together with a porosimetry simulator is developed. The actual intrusion and extrusion curves are used and optimization by means of an iterative method is performed. The method is validated against computer-generated intrusion and extrusion curves using the porosimetry simulator and applied to an oil-bearing rock sample as a test case.
