An analysis of the containment of electrochemically generated unstable radicals in cylindrical cells
Time variant and steady state concentration profiles of electrochemically generated unstable radical ions in cylindrical cells are analysed in various electrode/cell geometry configurations. The effect of diffusion and mass transport at the cell periphery is discussed, and numerical illustrations using the decomposition of 9-substituted 10-phenylanthracene cation radicals are provided. The choice of configuration is determined by the extent of desired radical containment.
