We give a review of results from work on merocyanines (MC) and photomerocyanines (PMC) reporting the most stable: isomeric forms from X-ray structural and NMR spectral analysis. Ws also give new X-ray data, H-1-H-1 NOESY, H-1 and C-13-NMR results for MC's.
