This review reports some aspects of the synthesis, chemical-physical properties and reactivity of heteropolyoxometalates. Particular attention is given to most recent developments in the use of heteropolycompounds as heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysts for the selective oxidation of hydrocarbons.
