ECOLOGY AND MICROBIOLOGY OF BIOGASIFICATION
The biodegradation of organic matter to form methane and carbon dioxide requires the interactions of diverse populations of bacteria. The roles of each of these organisms in the process and how they interact with each other is understood only in a rudimentary way. This paper describes the investigation of the microbial ecology of the anaerobic degradation of biomass feedstocks.
