HOT MELTS - IMPACT OF EVA BASED HOT MOLTS ON PAPER RECYCLING (REPRINTED FROM PROGRESS-IN-PAPER-RECYCLING, VOL 4, 1995)
An adhesive widely used for packaging and bookbinding applications that causes recycling problems is a hot-melt adhesive based on ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA). Research is under way to develop alternatives that are more easily removed during the recycling process. These include one-component polyurethane reactive hot melts (PURHM) and nonreactive, high-cohesive strength thermoplastic hot melts.
