Yielding of polymers filled with large-diameter particles
The yield stress of a polymer filled with rigid filler particles much larger than 5 mum is affected by the single-particle debonding stress at large volume fractions of filler. This relationship holds up to a limiting modulus based on the size of the polymer chains of the binder. An elastic yield energy, or resilience, is defined. Within the limits of the yield stress equation, this yield energy is constant over a wide range of strain rates and temperatures at high volume fractions of filler.
