Gas turbine installations with divided expansion
In this paper, the authors describe a new type of gas turbine installation (GTI) where the working fluid expansion is successively Performed in two segments Of the gas turbine (GT) (divided expansion). Between the two segments of the GT is disposed a heat recuperator which uses the heat of the working fluid leaving the first segment of the GT in order to heat the compressed air before its entrance in the combustion chamber (chambers). The result of the divided expansion of the working fluid and the presence of the heat recuperator between the two segments of the GT consists in an increase of the installation thermal efficiency in comparison with the thermal efficiency of the existing GTIs without divided expansion in similar operating conditions.
