Analysis and conceptual design of ternary heterogeneous azeotropic distillation processes
Design phenomena in heterogeneous distillation processes are investigated. Algorithms for tray-by-tray calculation are extended for columns with multiple heterogeneous trays in both sections. Minimum-energy calculations and methods for feasibility analysis are investigated for such systems. Based on this research, a new conceptual design method for heterogeneous distillation with one feed and two product streams is developed and tested on some examples showing different residue curve map topology.
