A technological breakthrough in well construction was achieved in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. An 11(3)/(4)-in. outer diameter (OD) liner was installed successfully through a whipstock window cut in 13(5)/(8)-in. casing. This was the first documented attempt to run casing larger than 10(3)/(8)-in. OD through a 13(5)/(8)-in. window.
