Mitigating wellbore stability problems of water-based muds
A major collaborative effort was undertaken to develop novel environmentally acceptable waterbased drilling fluids with high membrane efficiency. Experiments presented in the full-length paper show that wellbore stability can be maintained with the next generation of water-based muds (WBMs). Results indicate that these WBMs have membrane efficiencies approaching those of invert emulsion oil-based muds (OBMs).
