Two- and three-phase oxidation of ferrous sulfate to ferric sulfate - from intrinsic kinetics to diffusion-affected industrial kinetics
A systematic procedure was developed for the treatment of kinetic data from simultaneous catalytic and non-catalytic gas-liquid reaction experiments. The procedure involves the estimation of textural and kinetic parameters from experiments carried out with industrially relevant catalyst particles. The approach is useful in scale-up of catalytic processes from small to large particles. The procedure was successfully applied to a model system: oxidation of ferrous sulfate to ferric sulfate over active carbon catalyst.
