Speeds of sound in and isentropic compressibilities of (n-octanol plus n-hexane, or n-heptane, or n-octane) at T=298.15 K
Speeds of sound u have been measured in binary liquid mixtures of n-octanol (n-C8H17OH) and n-hexane (n-C6H14), or n-heptane (n-C7H16, or n-octane (n-C8H18) at T = 298.15 K. The values of u have been used to calculate the apparent excess speeds of sound Deltau and the isentropic compressibilities kappaS for these mixtures. The E E excess isentropic compressibilities K-S(E) have also been calculated from the values of kappa(S). The K-S(E) property has been found to be negative throughout the entire range of mole fraction x of n-C8H17OH for the present three mixtures. E The values of Deltau and K-S(E) have been fitted to representative equations.
