Fluid Phase Equilibria, Vol.204, No.1, 155-165, 2003
Liquid-liquid and solid-liquid equilibrium of the 1-propanol plus lithium sulfate plus water system at 25, 35 and 45 degrees C
The phase. diagram for the Li2SO4-CH3CH2CH2OH-H2O system was determined at 25, 35 and 45 degreesC. It was found that the effect of the temperature on the phase equilibrium was insignificant within the range utilized in the study. The binodal curves were fitted using a four-parameter equation. Also, the tie lines were fitted using the Othmer-Tobias and Bancroft correlations. Correlation coefficients (R-reg) for all the equations exceeded 0.98. Physical properties determined for the system studied included: density, refractive index, viscosity, and conductivity of the biphasic equilibrium. The data generated are of interest in the design of processes for the crystallization of Li2SO4.
