Equilibrium test: Determining closure pressure
Often, minifracture treatments are pumped before the main fracturing treatments to determine in-situ fracturing parameters. These parameters are essential for design adjustments, pressure matches, and fracture-dimension estimates. Unfortunately, shut-in decline data often are difficult to analyze and can yield inconsistent and erroneous closure pressures. A new injection test called an "equilibrium test" was developed to determine closure pressure.
