Drilling HP/HT wells in Bosque field, Venezuela
The Bosque field presents some of the most challenging drilling conditions in Venezuela. Pressures in the sandstone reservoir exceed 12,000 psia and temperatures are greater than 300degreesF Field geometry is very complex, containing faulted structures, large dips, and hard and abrasive rocks. Drilling operations must overcome low rates of penetration (ROPs), wellbore instability, lost circulation, and trajectory deviation. A multidisciplinary drilling team was formed to improve drilling performance by reducing drilling time.
