Preparation of Activated Carbon from Grape-seed and Adsorption of Methylene Blue and Phenol
This study was investigated the possibility of preparation of activated carbon from grape-seed. Activated carbon was prepared from grape-seed by chemical activation with NaOH, KOH and ZnCl2. Preparation process involves the roasting of raw material and carbonization of roasted material followed by chemical activation. N2-BET surface areas of activated grape-seed prepared by chemical activation were measured as about 44.09 ~ 121.33 m2/g with 100 ~ 300 wt% chemical ratio of NaOH, KOH and ZnCl2. respectively. The adsorbate transmittance of methylene blue and phenol were determined UV absorption at 660 nm and 268 nm using UV-specrophotometer, respectively.
