Tilt mapping shows complex fracture growth in laterals with uncemented liners
The intention of the uncemented-liner strategy was to align the well-bore with the preferred fracture orientation, thus resulting in the initiation and propagation of a single longitudinal fracture along the entire lateral. The actual fracture growth pattern was found to be much more complex. Approximately 45 vol% of the fracture was contained in transverse fracture components. The full-length paper details fracture orientation and approximate component distribution along the lateral for the nine treatments evaluated.
