Enhanced-gravel-pack completions revitaIlze a mature sand-prone field
Production from the Dulang oil field began in 1991. In the later stages of field life, a significant amount of sand production caused well and platform shutdowns. A study begun in 1999 to revitalize the field identified sand control as a requirement for the targeted reservoirs. Because a sand-control installation would result in an increase in mechanical skin, a combination of sand control and a stimulation technique was determined to be the best approach for production optimization. The combined strategies have increased productivity and prevented sand production.
