Dynamic simulator predicts gas lift well instability
Fluctuating unstable production affects many gas lift wells in offshore fields. The full-length paper describes the use of a commercial dynamic multiphase-flow simulator to investigate production losses in unstable gas lift wells. Casing-heading and density-wave instabilities were simulated. The average production rate of the unstable well was compared with the steady-state prediction. Feedback control was used to stabilize production and reduce production losses.
