The integral square error (ISE) method is applied to approximate the internal model control (IMC) system by the PID control system. Simulations show that the proposed method to design PID controllers can relieve some disadvantages of the original ISE method and IMC-based PID controller design methods. (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd.
