Development of a characterization method for the combustion behavior of solid recovered fuels
Apart from coal, fuels like solid biogenic or recovered fuels will gain increasing importance in power generation plants. An important condition for this is the possibility to specify the combustion behavior, which depends on the properties of the fuel. Fuels can be characterized by using standard analytical tests. These are simplified and only valid for the specific fuel type, mostly for coals. The development of new highly informative analytical methods is necessary to compare the different combustion behavior of fuels of different origin. A new method basically meets these demands. The analysis technique is based on the thermal characterization of fuels with a crucible according to DIN 51719 and DIN 51720 for coal characterization. It contains low-cost equipment and easy practicability.
