Four-component data for imaging, lithology prediction, and fluid discrimination
Recently, developments of marine four-component (4C)-acquisition and -processing technology have widened the application of the technique to most geographical areas and to deeper water. Its higher cost compared with conventional streamer surveys requires identification of proper geophysical use and demonstration that results can be interpreted and used to make the technology cost-efficient. Improved imaging in low-impedance-P-wave reservoirs has been demonstrated, and sand/shale content can he inferred from multicomponent attributes, Fluid discrimination earn be achieved from the converted wave information.
