The potential controlled Fenton reaction at liquid|liquid interfaces as the source of hydroxyl radicals
The Fenton reaction was studied voltammetrically at a water\1,2-dichloroethane interface, with hydrogen peroxide in the aqueous phase and (ferrocenylmethyl)trimethylammonium cation (TMFc(+)) in the organic phase. The reaction mechanism was verified and the reaction kinetics established. It has been shown, that this system can be used for controlled production of OH-radicals that can possibly be applied to initiating polymerization of suitable monomers adsorbed at the interface.
