Recycling of abrasives and process water in the abrasive water jet technique
Abrasive water jet cutting is an innovative manufacturing method, which gets increasing importance for the processing of technical materials. Especially the broad application spectrum of this machining technique with geometrically undefined cutting edges has to be emphasized, which includes jetting for deforming, surface treatment, machining, cleaning and surface strengthening. A key function for the successful introduction and acceptance of this new technology is the possibility to recycle all components of the obtained mixture of water, used abrasives, and metal chips. This article summarizes an advanced recycling concept, which has proven in laboratory tests to be an economical and environmentally gentle solution to close the material circuit of cutting water and abrasives.
