The basic items in chemmotology, fuels and lubricants (F&L) are a complex system of commercial products (brands) used in operation of equipment. They are divided into three subsystems (classes): fuels, lubricants, and special fluids [1-7]. The problems common to these subsystems include their refinement in accordance with the level of development of equipment, change in feedstock base, etc. The lack of a classification for these items within the framework of the "petroleum product-equipment-operation" triad prevents solving these problems with respect to special fluids in our opinion.
