An Experimental-Study of Mass-Transfer from a Sparingly Soluble Cylinder in Cross-Flow Configuration
Mass transfer coefficients from sparingly soluble cylinders in cross how configuration have been measured experimentally. The contributions stemming from the different parts of the cylinder namely, front, rear and side regions, have been isolated by appropriately masking the parts of the cylinder. Predictive expressions have been developed for the componentswise as well as total mass transfer coefficient. Also, the present results are compared with the previous literature data wherever possible. The results reported herein embrace the following ranges of kinematic and physical conditions : 80 less than or equal to Re less than or equal to 900; 850 less than or equal to Sc less than or equal to 1520 and 60 less than or equal to Sh less than or equal to 520.
