Simple expressions for the heat capacities of elemental solids
We have developed an expression for the heat capacity of solids using the asymptotic behavior described by Debye. This new correlation has the same accuracy as the Debye expression, but uses an empirical constant to avoid numerical integration. The average percentage error for 19 substances is 3.92%. Adding a term to address low temperatures reduces the average percentage error to 2.76% for 13 substances. The experimental error for the measurements appears to be in the range of 1-5% for the elements selected.
