Governing mechanism of disproportionate permeability reduction
A single model can explain observed disproportionate permeability reduction (DPR) effects. This model relies on segregated flow of oil and water at the pore level and on continuity in the oil phase during placement of the DPR fluid. A method was developed to place water-soluble gel while maintaining open pathways for oil. Also, a new selectivity parameter was demonstrated to define optimum DPR more effectively.
